What the certificate is

An Ontario Safety Standards Certificate is a provincial document confirming that a vehicle met Ontario's safety standards at the time it was inspected. It is issued only by licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations. It is not a warranty and it does not certify future condition—it reflects the vehicle's state on inspection day.

Who needs one

Drivers signing up to drive for Uber in Ontario, and existing drivers whose certificate has expired or whose vehicle is new to the platform. Requirements can change, so confirm the current requirement in your driver app before booking.

What we inspect

We follow the provincial inspection standard, which covers:

• Brakes, including pads, rotors, lines and parking brake
• Tires, tread depth and wheel condition
• Steering and suspension components for wear and play
• Lighting, signals and reflectors
• Exhaust system condition and leaks
• Windshield, wipers, mirrors and glass
• Seat belts, doors, latches and body condition
• Fuel system, leaks and general roadworthiness

What to bring

Bring your vehicle ownership (permit), a piece of identification and any recent repair receipts. Remove heavy cargo from the trunk so we can access the spare tire area, and let us know if a warning light is currently on.

How booking works

Book online through our appointment page or call 416-642-2838. Same-day service is available for many appointments when capacity permits. Tell us it is a rideshare inspection so we allocate the right amount of bay time.

If your vehicle does not pass

You receive a written list of the items that did not meet the standard, along with a repair quote. Nothing is repaired unless you approve it, and you are free to have the work done elsewhere and return for re-inspection. A certificate can only be issued once the vehicle meets Ontario's requirements—we cannot guarantee that any vehicle will pass.
