Ontario-Licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station
Lyft Safety Certificate in Scarborough
Driving for Lyft in Ontario means your vehicle has to pass a safety inspection, and the document you need is an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate. CANPAK AUTO is licensed by the Province of Ontario as a Motor Vehicle Inspection Station, so both the inspection and the certificate happen here at 1271 Kennedy Road.

What Lyft drivers need
A valid Ontario Safety Standards Certificate issued by a licensed inspection station, dated within the period the platform accepts. Requirements change from time to time, so check your driver dashboard for the current standard before you book.
What we check
Our inspection follows Ontario's provincial standard. The most common areas we find issues are:
- Brake pad and rotor thickness below the minimum
- Tire tread depth or uneven wear
- Worn tie rods, ball joints or suspension bushings
- Burned-out bulbs and cracked lenses
- Exhaust leaks and insecure components
- Windshield cracks in the wiper sweep area
Booking and timing
Book online or call 416-642-2838. Most inspections take about an hour. If your schedule is tight, tell us your available window and we will do our best—same-day service is available for many appointments when capacity permits.
If repairs are needed
We give you a written list and a quote. You approve what gets repaired, and you are welcome to compare prices elsewhere. Once the vehicle meets Ontario's requirements, the certificate is issued. We cannot promise in advance that a vehicle will pass.
Keeping your certificate current
Rideshare vehicles cover a lot of kilometres, so brakes and tires wear faster than they do for most drivers. A quick check a few weeks before your certificate expires usually avoids a last-minute failure and lost driving days.
CANPAK AUTO is an independent repair shop and licensed Ontario inspection station. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Uber or Lyft. A Safety Standards Certificate is issued only when a vehicle meets the provincial standard, so we cannot guarantee that any vehicle will pass. Platform requirements can change without notice — always confirm current requirements in your driver app.
Lyft Safety Certificate Scarborough — driver questions
How much is a Lyft safety inspection?
$85 for the rideshare safety inspection. Repairs, if required, are quoted separately and need your approval.
Do you issue the certificate on site?
Yes. We are an Ontario-licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station and issue the Safety Standards Certificate once your vehicle meets provincial requirements.
Can I drive for both Uber and Lyft with one certificate?
A valid Ontario Safety Standards Certificate is a provincial document, not a platform-specific one. Each platform sets its own rules on what it accepts, so confirm with both.
Are you connected with Lyft?
No. We are independent and mention Lyft only to describe the inspection drivers need.
