  • Measurement of remaining pad and rotor thickness

Why this matters

Brakes wear gradually, so most drivers get used to the change without noticing it. Worn pads take longer to stop the car and can damage rotors, which turns a smaller job into a larger one. Braking distance matters most on Kennedy Road and Highway 401 ramps, where traffic stops suddenly.

Brake Repair — questions we hear often

How long do brake pads last?

Commonly 40,000–80,000 km, but city driving, hills and heavy loads shorten that a lot. Measurement is the only reliable answer, which is why we always measure.

Do I need to replace rotors with pads?

Not always. If the rotors are still within thickness specification and the surface is in good condition, they can stay. We will show you the measurements either way.

Can worn brakes fail a safety inspection?

Yes. Brake condition is part of an Ontario safety inspection, and a vehicle that does not meet the standard cannot be issued a Safety Standards Certificate until it does.
